Tornadoes took on their main rivals Bracknell Flames yesterday in an important match that would determine our chance of going up a division at the end of the season or not. We started out strong with good defence and the attackers making sure that the chances were converted and we managed to end the quarter with a lead of 13-5. The second quarter continued strong with the defence getting good rebounds and bringing the ball up the court well meaning that the attack could carry out with good feeds into the circle and great shooting from Alex and Laura. We ended the first half with a lead of 12 goals and the score 29-17. Unfortunately we then had our legendary third quarter lag and a renewed determination from Flames coupled with their ability to find some gaps in our defence meant that the closed the gap to 5 goals meaning the quarter ended 34-29. We dug deep in the fourth quarter but so did Flames and they managed to pull a few more goals back meaning that every goal counted. We managed to just about keep our cool and ended the game 44-43. A close call but a well deserved win. We finally got them!
